We think Zezinha makes the best Tarte de Amêndoa (almond cake).
That's why we don't want to deprive you of the recipe, so that you can also enjoy this wonderful cake.
Try it out, even if the ingredients you use are not originally Portuguese.
It's worth mentioning that the recipe doesn't have a time limit. Zezinha keeps a constant eye on the cake in the oven and judges it by its colour. She thinks it turns out best that way. We wish you lots of fun!
Tarte de Amêndoa
You need these ingredients:
Cake:
100 g sugar
90 g butter
1 egg
150 g flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
Cream:
125 g butter
125 g sugar
125 g flaked almonds
3 tablespoons milk
Put the sugar, egg and melted butter in a bowl and beat until fluffy. Then add the flour and baking powder and mix well. Pour the mixture into a cake tin that has been completely buttered. Put the filled cake tin into the preheated oven and bake at 180 degrees Celsius top/bottom heat.
For the cream, put the butter, sugar, almonds and milk in a pan and stir constantly at a low temperature until the cream thickens. Now take the cake out of the oven, which should now be nicely browned and almost baked. Prick the top of the cake with a fork and spread the cream over it. Then put the whole thing back in the oven until the almonds turn brown.
